Become a Citizen Scientist!

Help your Lake Worth Waterkeeper team locate
and tag nesting pairs of Horseshoe Crabs on Munyon Island.

Join the first ever horseshoe crab watch program in Palm Beach County!

This citizen science program takes advantage of beach nesting behavior to collect valuable information about breeding horseshoe crabs.

~Please be able to commit to completing online training and signing up to a minimum of 2 days of surveying/tagging.~

A few notes:

  • This is NOT a volunteer position.
  • Although we love our volunteers, we are in need of Citizen Scientists who can commit to 2-3 hour days collecting innovative data on Horseshoe Crabs and the Lake Worth Lagoon ecosystems.
  • We will be walking along beaches, kayaking in calm to rough waters and sometimes wading into water with a rocky bottom. Please wear appropriate footwear, reef-safe sunscreen and bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
  • We will provide all of the equipment necessary for the survey and tagging portion of the program.
  • For any other questions, please email Melissa at melissa.l@lakeworthwaterkeeper.org.
